Good food doesn’t have to be complicated and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Luckily this one is neither and you can have it ready in under to hour. There’s no need to wait for the weekend to treat yourself to this Garlic & Herb Steak and Cilantro Lime Shrimp 🙂

Surf n’ Turf Dinner

Cilantro Lime Shrimp

  • 1 lb Jumbo Shrimp
  • 1 tbsp Cilantro
  • 1 tbsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 Lime

Garlic & Herb Steak

  • 1 lb Chuck Steak
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)
  • 4 Garlic Cloves
  • 5 Sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 2 tbsp Butter


  1. Peel your shrimp and mix with Cajun seasoning, lime juice, and cilantro. Let sit for at least 15 minutes.

  2. Place shrimp on a skewer and broil for 5-10 minutes depending on the size of your shrimp. Keep an eye on them so you don’t overcook them.


  1. If you can, salt your steak the night before. If not, give it at least an hour.

  2. Let your steak sit out at room temperature for at least an hour before cooking and pat dry.

  3. Heat a cast iron skillet to high heat. Coat with olive oil.

  4. Sear your steak for 4 minutes. Flip and then add butter, garlic cloves, and thyme. Once the butter is completely melted, tip the pan and constantly spoon the butter on top of the steak for an additional 4 minutes.

  5. Remove from the heat and cover. Let rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Tips – Start your shrimp marinade first, cook the steak, then broil the shrimp while your steak is resting. Everything will be ready at the same time 😊

You can use any steak you like, just keep in mind that cooking time will depend on the thickness and doneness you prefer.

Serve with rice, potatoes, or roasted veggies.
